Record a reading by hand in the manual ledger. Replace each placeholder with the real UTC reset time or the time you made the observation. The 71 is an invented example for the syntax only, not a live reading or a suggested allowance.
demon record --provider codex --weekly 71 --resets '<actual-reset-UTC>' --at '<original-observed-UTC>' --jsonNever invent or future-date a reading, and do not present stale data as fresh.
Done
Ask for the status. Your readings stay in a local SQLite ledger, and at run time the tool makes no model calls and runs no network service. Without fresh short-window data, the advisory mode is capped at Normal until you refresh it.
demon status --provider codex --json
What it won't do
It does not grant permissions, change client settings, override higher-priority instructions, start background work, or authorize new tasks. The mode text is advice for work you already authorized.
It is an instruction, not an enforcement boundary. Your provider's tools and your client's permissions stay under your control.
It does not edit Claude or Codex settings, and it does not register itself. The hook command only prints a template for you to review and merge into your existing hooks.
It does not read prompt text from standard input. Ingestion is limited to supported provider output (Claude status-line JSON on standard input, or an explicit Codex JSON file); do not scrape accounts, read prompts or supply credentials, and do not treat token counts or cost totals as subscription allowance.
